Christmas Party

So Saturday was our ward Christmas party. The theme this year was Christmas in Zarahemla, it was neat because prophets of old came and told stories of the coming of Christ, the kids got to make projects and collect special stones, and as always the dinner was great. They asked everuone to dress up in biblical times (hence the costumes) and I just have to say, I wasn't planning on doing much because the kids don't usually like to dress up but Brian gets really excited about things like this and he actually came up with all the costumes and made them himself! Isn't he wonderful! Brian and I were asked to be Mary and JOseph and Kate was baby Jesus. She slept through the whole thing and was just precious! The boys LOVE Star Wars and lucky for us they thought their costumes were Jedi costumes so they were excited to go.

This week has been great Brian has been home finally for the whole week and we are loving having him home. He has been traveling a lot to interviews for residency. His top choice is Pocatello followed by Boise, Provo, and maybe Wyoming. He still has an interview in Washington. He is going into Family Practice. Good news is he will graduate from medical school in May!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooooo excited to be moving on to a new section of life for us.
I'm posting pictures of Kate mostly for the family that reads the blog but also because she's so stinkin cute!

Football fan

So for those of you who don't know I am a HUGE Steelers fan. I have been able to convert Brian to cheer for my team also. In my obsession I have added a sidebar where I can keep track of my team . I'm hoping they make it to the superbowl. I know for a fact that the cowboys won't make it to the superbowl( that's for my brother in law). So go Steelers!!

Nothing but dull news...

Ok for the last few days or weeks I should say Brian has been in and out of town on interviews for residency. Last week we had him around for Thanksgiving which we went to my grandma Phillips house and had a great time. Thanks grandma! After Thanksgiving Brian decided to venture out on black Friday and of all places, WalMart. Needless to say, I don't think he'll do that again.
This week he is again gone, this time to Utah to interview. He's almost done with the interviews the last are in Washington. Then he'll be home for CHristmas. Its been a long few days already.
We blessed Kate on Sunday and had a great dinner afterwards at Becky's (thank you so much Becky). Her house was the only one big enough to hold our families. Our house is barely big enough for us. So a huge thanks to all who helped with that, it was great.

A long week....goes on

So we have spent a lot of time inside with sick kids this week.Tyler came down with a cold that turned to croup and now Zane has it. Even Brian came back from 4 days in Wyoming sick. Kate and I are the only ones not sick yet. (knock on wood) I'm really hoping Kate won't get sick she's to little.

Right before we got sick my SIL Jen, took some pictures for us. Here are a few.

Biggest Loser

We need your help! All of you!
Lisa and I are big fans of the weight loss show on NBC called "The Biggest Loser". We were talking about how hard it is to get motivated lately. Lisa wants to lose the "baby weight" but three kids keep things really busy. I haven't been running in weeks and I have eaten at least half of the boys' Halloween candy. So anyway, Lisa had an idea that we start a Biggest Loser blog and open it only to friends and family that want to participate (translation=it will be a private blog so you can feel comfortable that not just anybody can read it). We thought it would be a place where we can all share our successes and our frustrations, exercise and lifestyle ideas, and our favorite healthy recipes. Don't worry, we won't have any public weigh-ins and we don't want anyone to post their current weight. However, we do recommend keeping track of your weight and measurements so that if you lose pounds or inches you can share your success. We really want as many people as possible to participate. We want to keep the blog private, so if you are interested, either email us or post a comment and we will add your email address to give you access to the blog. The address for the blog is http://muirbiggestloser.blogspot.com You can link to it through our "Blog Buddies" on the right.
Good luck and we hope you all participate.

A day late and dollars short

Ok I know Halloween was last week and I should have posted this sooner but I'm lucky to get much computer time these days. So this year for Halloween Zane was the amazing Buzz Lightyear and Tyler wanted to be Darth Vader. So we borrowed a Darth Vader costume from my sister in law so he could be Darth Vader. As we are getting ready for the trunk or treat he tells me that the mask isn't plastic and therefore not good enough to wear. So I asked him how he was going to be Darth Vader if he didn't have his mask and wouldn't carry his lightsaber. "Well I guess I'll just be cape man". SO this year we had Buzz and cape man. In the picture I have of them, Zane insisted on wearing Tyler's hat and sunglasses (which Tyler wears ALL the time when he is outdoors, sensitive eyes), and I convinced Tyler to put on the mask for pictures. Kate was our little pumpkin!

Now a little on Kate. She is four weeks today and I have loved every minute of it. She is a great baby. SHe hardly ever cries and she can sleep through just about everything which with her brothers is no small task. She LOVES to cuddle and be held and I have to admit that I love to get her dressed up for church and show her off. Her eyes are starting to change colors and it looks like they are headed in the blue direction. She has her daddy wrapped around her finger and her brothers are VERY protective of her. She is the sweetest baby.

We compared pictures of her (below) and Zane (above) as babies and there is a LOT of resemblence.

Update

Wow so its been a while. Things are crazy in our TINY apartment with three kids but the fun has just started. Kate is almost four weeks now and she really is the sweetest baby. She eats sleeps and poops and is perfectly happy, especially in someones arms. She hardly ever cries (knock on wood) and her brothers adore her.

I was just reading blogs and my sister inlaw has a great craft link on her blog where she is selling jewerly. Check out her blog for great christmas gifts, its Jeff and Becky Muir on my friend list. She makes the cutest things. I can't wait until she starts making hair bows for little girls!! :)

I'll try to post more pictures later because I'm on the wrong computer but don't worry we have lots of pictures to post.

Uncomfortable Questions From A 4 Year-Old

Tyler is very smart. We have known this for a while. For example, he is always pointing at words that we have not taught him and telling us what they say. He is a great brother and the recent birth of his sister has triggered a series of questions that make Lisa and I a little uncomfortable. The first one was this: "Daddy, what part of mommy's body did the baby come out of?" I thought about telling him that the belly button opens up, but I decided it was better to be honest and I told him that mommies have a special part below their bellies where babies can come out. He then turned to Lisa and said, "Oh, did it hurt?" The following are some of our favorite/most awkward questions that he has asked us in the last two weeks:

"Mommy, why is the baby eating out of your arm?"

"Mommy, why do you make milk like a cow?"

"Can you make the babies eyes blue like mine?"

"Mommy, when is your belly going to get big again?"

"When your belly gets big again, can it be a boy?"

Those are the few questions we can remember and/or feel comfortable sharing on the blog. Needless to say, we have to be very careful about what we talk about at our house!

Welcome Kate JaNae Muir!!!

Thursday, October 9th (10/09/08) Kate JaNae Muir was born at 6:22 pm. She weighs 7 lbs 6.5 oz and is 21 inches long. She has lots of dark hair and she looks a lot like her brother Zane did when he was born. Kate gave us a scare because her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck pretty tightly. We were afraid because she was very silent when she first came out and wasn't breathing very strongly. However she quickly recovered and everything seemed okay for a while. Then in the nursery, her oxygen saturation kept dropping so they put her in the NICU to keep an eye on her. She had to be on oxygen for a few hours but they took it away this morning and she has been breathing well since. She is a great eater and took to breast feeding like an old pro. We are hoping to bring her home tomorrow evening or Sunday morning if all continues to go well. We strongly suspect that she is the cutest little girl ever (no offense to everybody else's little girls). This is when the NICU nurses were working on her right after birth. Thank goodness for great nurses!
Here is Kate with her mommy and me. I got to deliver her (don't worry, Dr. Leavitt was there for backup). Kate wasn't so sure she liked her first bath. . .
But she sure looked cuter with all the gunk off!
Lisa is doing well. She is tired and sore (she tore a bit). We are so excited to get her home. Her brothers think she is all right but they are a little turned off by all the wires connected to her in the NICU.

I got tagged....

I got tagged and now you will have to forgive the condition of my house seeing how I am 38 1/2 weeks prego and only have a husband on the weekend. I had to take pictures of 1. kitchen sink 2. my favorite room 3. fridge 4. closet 5. laundry room 6. self portrait 7. kids 8. dream vacation 9. favorite shoes 10. the bathroom

I hate doing dishes and the dishwasher was full.

My favorite room is the kitchen because I love to cook but there is no way I'm taking a picture of that right now, I'm already embarrassed to have to take pictures of my messy cluttered home.

My sweet husband just got back from shopping for me! Before it was bare

This is our coat/game closet.

My so called laundry room but really little closet.
Me.

My kids before going to bed.

Here is supposed to be my dream vacation but really the only dream I have is to get out of the country and see something different and unique and not have to take my children.

My favorite shoes, I know, I know I couldn't find the other boot and its not like I've been able to wear them the last few months anyway.

My bathroom in all its glory.

I will confess that I did clean up a little before I took some of the pictures because things have gotten crazy lately and I have little interest in deep cleaning at the moment seeing how I can barely move.

Anyway, I now tag Kaysie, Dallas, Becky and Jolynn. And for those that don't already know if I haven't had the baby by Thursday I'm getting induced on Thursday morning so stay posted for pictures and events.

Little trouble maker

So we have been having a difficult time keeping little Zane in his bed. He likes to sneak out of his room usually crying and throwing a fit and will keep it up for hours. We have tried everything, super nanny techniques and all, and nothing seems to be working. Brian can get him to wear down faster than I can but with Brian out of town most of the week, things aren't going well for mommy. So the other night Brian was home and thought he had gotten the kids to bed in a reasonably short amount of time. As he came out of our room, this is what he found, Zane had snuck out of his bed yet again and had posted himself outside our bedroom where Brian was. Unfortunately for Zane he was too tired to follow through with his usual routine and fell alseep on the floor. Even though its hard and challenging, finding him like this was really cute!!
Any suggestions for getting him to stay in bed I would gladly take. This is a fairly new development and I think it has something to do with the new baby on the way, but any help is welcome.

So sad....

Well we are again without a daddy and husband during the week as Brian has gone to Pocatello for a rotation. He could come home every night but we decided it would probably save us a lot of money if he stayed most of the week up there and came home on weekends. He is staying in the dorms and has a roommate who he says is always asleep, so it shouldn't be too hard for them to get along. I have 23 days left in this pregnancy and not having Brian in town all the time makes me nervous but hopefully things will work out. I've never been early before and so I don't count on it now. But babies come on their own schedule and we just get to go with the flow.

Other than that we haven't been doing anything to crazy and fun considering I can hardly move. So we miss you Brian and we'll see you soon.

A few of our favorite things...

So we had a fun little summer dispite mommy being sick for most of it. We love eating corn on the cob, playing with daddy, and building anything and everything. Anytime we could get in a pool was a fun day as well. Whenever we had time with daddy was a GREAT day. Now Tyler is in preschool and Lisa is counting down the weeks until baby day. We have five weeks and counting and Lisa is definetly counting everyday. She can't wait to get this kid out of her, she's a very active baby and kicks hard!!!

Back home

So we have since returned from staying at my parents house for two weeks (thank mom and dad). The boys has a great time at gama's and gapa's house. WE got to see Kyle and Sheena and play with Jaeda who is sooo cute! We also got to go to the Twin Falls open house and that was really neat. Tyler liked the swimming pool (the baptismal font), the boys were very good through the whole thing thank goodness. We were fortunate enought to get to see Brian on the weekends which was great, we really missed daddy. We had lots of fun in the sprinkler, wrestling grandma, relaxing with cousins and having fun.
