Welcome Kate JaNae Muir!!!

Thursday, October 9th (10/09/08) Kate JaNae Muir was born at 6:22 pm. She weighs 7 lbs 6.5 oz and is 21 inches long. She has lots of dark hair and she looks a lot like her brother Zane did when he was born. Kate gave us a scare because her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck pretty tightly. We were afraid because she was very silent when she first came out and wasn't breathing very strongly. However she quickly recovered and everything seemed okay for a while. Then in the nursery, her oxygen saturation kept dropping so they put her in the NICU to keep an eye on her. She had to be on oxygen for a few hours but they took it away this morning and she has been breathing well since. She is a great eater and took to breast feeding like an old pro. We are hoping to bring her home tomorrow evening or Sunday morning if all continues to go well. We strongly suspect that she is the cutest little girl ever (no offense to everybody else's little girls).This is when the NICU nurses were working on her right after birth. Thank goodness for great nurses!
Here is Kate with her mommy and me. I got to deliver her (don't worry, Dr. Leavitt was there for backup). Kate wasn't so sure she liked her first bath. . .
But she sure looked cuter with all the gunk off!

Lisa is doing well. She is tired and sore (she tore a bit). We are so excited to get her home. Her brothers think she is all right but they are a little turned off by all the wires connected to her in the NICU.
